The victim was Arb Dean Meeks, son of Rev. and Mrs. Arbie Meeks. Witnesses said a companion trying to rescue him had brought the boy to within a short distance of the bank when he lost his grip. About an hour later the boy's body was found near the point where he drowned. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wells Chapel (Methodist) in Johnson County, KY. Burial was in the family cemetery at Boons Camp. Surviving are the parents, two brothers, Leslie Meeks of Springfield, OH and Buddy Meeks at home; two sisters, Flora Ann and Sue Meeks at home, and the grandmothers, Mrs. Lolitha Meeks of Boons Camp and Mrs. Flora Mae Roberts of Bluefield, WV. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Young Funeral Home.
