Ball From Richmond, Indiana "Pal-Item" RICHMOND, Ind. -- John William Chester Ramsey, age 84, of Richmond, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Reid Hospital. He was born Oct. 16, 1920, in Beattyville, Ky., to Canada and Callie Townsend Ramsey. John was a 1940 graduate of Richmond High School and was a resident of Richmond most of his life. He was former owner/operator of Hitchel Ramsey Shell and Ramsey DX and worked as a mechanic for Willoughby Standard, S&S Garage and Studebaker Auto. Survivors include his daughters, Shirley Ann Moore of Swannanoa, N.C., and Linda Jane Miller and husband Ronald of Leesburg, Ala.; sons, James O. Ramsey and wife Sandra, and Billy Joe Ramsey, both of Richmond; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, James E. Ramsey and wife Loretta, Donald E. Ramsey and wife Leona, and Charles J. Ramsey and wife Linda, all of Richmond; nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice May Veach Ramsey, who died Dec. 5, 1994; his parents; eight sisters; and one grandchi! ld. Funeral service for John Ramsey will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2005, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, with Rev. Grady Slaven officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery, Braffettsville, Ohio.
