He had been there less than a month as I understand it.) 1-08-2008: From Richmond, Indiana "Pal-Item" Richmond -- Mrs. Christal Newton Snowden, 67, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008. She was born Aug. 8, 1940, to Albert B. and Callie Holland Newton in Lee County, Ky. She had lived in the Richmond community since 1966 and was a former employee of Hill Floral Products. She enjoyed cake-baking, crocheting, quilting and doing genealogy work. She affirmed her faith in Christ and was baptized on Dec. 12, 2007. Christal will be missed by her husband, Jimmy Snowden of Richmond; her daughters, Connie Abrams and her fianc? Mark Smith, and Linda Lahmann and her husband Alan Jr., all of Richmond; her son, Steve Bowman and his wife Kathy of Richmond; a stepdaughter, Sharon Webb of Irvine, Ky.; stepson, Ricky Lee Snowden of Clay City, Ky.; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Virginia Horn of Richmond; two brothers, Tildon Newton and Ernest Newton, both of Richmond; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Christal was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Johnathan Alan Lahmann on Dec. 10, 2007; seven sisters and five brothers. A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Heath Rickmond at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 U.S. 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Johnathan Lahmann Memorial Scholarship, 33 S. Seventh St., Richmond, IN 47374; or Williamsburg Cemetery.
