Robert Eugene Courtney Sr., 67, was killed while trying to tow a van with another vehicle across his yard at 15303 Ind. 62, Clark County police said. Courtney was driving the tow vehicle, which he left when the van started rolling backward, police said. He died at the scene. Courtney was a native of Mayking, in Letcher County, Ky., a retired carpenter, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, New Washington. His survivors include his wife, the former Betty Dunn; three sons, Robert E. Courtney Jr., of Houston, and Joseph and Dennis Courtney; two daughters, Debbie Cochran of Jeffersonville and Sheila Zuniga; his mother, Ilah Justice of Louisville; and 12 grandchildren. Grayson Charlestown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
