COL. THOMAS P. HILL, the gentleman whose name heads this sketch, was born in Lincoln County, Ky., in the year 1828. He is a son of Thos. P. Hill and Louisa (Peyton) Hill, both parents representing pioneer families. He received a thorough literary education in the St. Mary's College of Marion County, Ky., and began the study of the law while quite young. He enjoyed the benefits of an able legal instructor in the person of the Hon. John Kincaid, then living in Lincoln County, and he made such progress in his study that at the age of nineteen he was admitted to practice. For a period of nearly forty years Col. Hill has been in the active practice of his profession and for many years has occupied the front frank in the Kentucky bar. Besides being an able jurist he is one of the best advocates in the State and as an orator has few superiors in central Kentucky. He has tenaciously adhered to the practice of his profession, and though an ardent Democrat, has studiously avoided the political arena. He has been twice married: first to Miss Maria A. Peyton, and next to his present wife, Frances Fowler. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ky/lincoln/bios/gbs159hill.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/kyfiles/
