STANFORD -- Services for Bobby Gene Bates, 61, of Halls Gap Estates 
will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Spurlin Funeral Home by Gary Story. 

He died Monday at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. 

Born March 20, 1941, in Virgie, he was the son of the late Jessie and 
Irene Burke Bates. He was a steel mill manager and an Army veteran of 
the Vietnam war. 

Survivors include his wife, Janice L. Bates; a son, Thomas J. Bates 
of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Lisa E. Bates of Taylor, Mich.; 
and a brother, Ronald L. Bates of Cookville, Tenn. 

Pallbearers will be Ronald Bates II, Todd Olson, Jeff Olson, Rhonda 
Maurer, and Andrew and Rebecca Hudson.

Honorary pallbearers are Jo Ann Bowman and Arnold, Lester and Chester 
Bates.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.
