Carter, 85, of Thompson-Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore, formerly of Stanford, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery by the Rev. Jim Irwin. He died Friday at his residence. Born Feb. 14, 1917, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Carl A. and Lucy Lee Walton Carter. He was retired from the Navy, in which he served 18 years, and was a World War II veteran, and a member of Stanford Christian Church. Survivors include a son, Eddie Carter of Stanford; a daughter, Nancy Carter Ball of Stanford; and two grandchildren. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at Spurlin Funeral Home.
