From the Danville Advocate Messenger, 20 April 2003 CRAB ORCHARD -- Millard Allen Harris, 81, of Elm Street, Crab Orchard, died Saturday at Fort Logan Hospital. Born Dec. 4, 1922, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Ollie Allen Harris. He worked as an investigator for the U.S. Treasury Department and served as police commissioner and city commissioner for Crab Orchard. He was a a Kentucky colonel and World War II Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Murray Harris; a daughter, Kimberly A. Adams of Crab Orchard; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Harris. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at McKnight Funeral Home by Cecil Roundtree. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Adams, Toby Brown, Darrell McConnell, Fred Simpson, Royce Killen and Jay Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Speake, Ricky Johnson, Teresa Newcomb, Rick Foley, Bill Ledbetter and Jack Watts. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Monday. Memorials may go to Crab Orchard Cemetery Fund.
