Born Nov. 21, 1938, in Waynesburg, he was the son of Madge L. Bitner Stamper and the late Eugene G Stamper. He was a self-employed tool and dye maker for 40 years and former apprentice for Western Electric. Survivors include his mother, Madge L. Bitner Stamper of Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, James E. Stamper of Dumfries, Va.; a daughter, Julia A. Stamper of Hertford, N.C.; a brother, Richard E. Stamper of Terre Haute, Ind.; a sister, Donna Kay Smith of Indianapolis, Ind.; and five grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Double Springs Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
