Born May 28, 1914, in Elk Valley, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late M.L. and Almeda Gipson Baird. She was a homemaker, an employee of Kentucky State Hospital, and retired from Oakwood in Somerset. She was a member of Mount Salem Baptist Church and the widow of James Cleo Smith. Survivors include three sons, Wendell Smith, Larry Smith and Jerry D. Smith, all of Mount Salem; a daughter, Sue C. Franklin of Stanford; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Mike Mullins and Tim Cochran. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce, Kevin, Keith and Brian Smith, Greg and Shawn Gaines, and Wayne and Shane Franklin. Honorary pallbearers are Ronald Baird, Shawn Owens, Imogene Salyers, Shirley Wilcher, Lisa Anderson, Melissa Owens, Carrie Chambers and Lori Young.
