OBIT: Jolly, Geo. W., 1930 - Livingston Co Submitted by: Jim & Colleen Lovan From the clippings that our grandmother kept. She had two for George W. Jolly. We don't know what papers they came from. GEO. W. JOLLY Geo. W. Jolly was born February 26, 1856, in Smithland, Ky. He was called January 24, 1930. He was united in marriage with Serena Annora Jones, March 4, 1877. He was converted at the age of eighteen, joined the Gum Springs Church, known then at the Friendship Church which is six miles from Smithland, Ky. To this union were born nine children, seven of whom survived him: Elvis E. Jolly, Gilbert C. Jolly, James E. Jolly, Maud P. Dixon, Lula Nickell, and Esther Alvarez, all of California and Londa Jones of Dawson Springs, Ky. The family moved to Grand Rivers, Ky., October 27, 1897, and he with wife and three children joined the Grand River's Baptist Church in the year of 1898. He was a deacon of the church and he was a reader of the Recorder for thirty-three years. SERENA ANNORA JOLLY, 519 N. Florence Ave., Monterey, Calif. >>>>>> GEORGE W. JOLLY OF GRAND RIVERS DIES Grand Rivers, Ky., Jan 24---George W. Jolly, 73 years old, well known merchant, died at his home here this morning at 3:40 o'clock. Mr. Jolly had been in failing health for some time but had been up and at his place of business, and his death was sudden. He became critically ill Thursday night. Mr. Jolly had been in the mercantile business at Grand Rivers and in the vicinity for the past thirty years. He was part owner of the general store Jolly and Sexton, and was widely known in Livingston and adjoining counties. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nora Jolly; four daughters, Mrs. Maude Dixon, Mrs. Lula Nickell, and Mrs. Esther Alvarez, all of California, and Mrs. Londa Jones of Dawson Springs; and three sons, Elvis, Gilbert, and James Jolly. The funeral will be held Sunday. >>>>> Note: George W.
