Will of Thomas Barnett, Logan Co KY Will Book B, p.236

In the name of God Amen this November the twenty-seventh one thousand Eight 
hundred and Eighteen I Thomas Barnet of Logan County & State of Kentucky being 
at present Sick but of perfect Sound mind and memory doth think proper to make 
this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all others, as followth….
First I give and recommend my Sole to God who give it and my body to the Earth 
to be buried at the direction of my Executors, as to my worldly Estate I give 
and dispose of in the Following manner
Item 1st, I give and bequeath to my son John Barnet one Negro woman named Frank
Item 2nd.  I give to my Son James C. Barnet one Negro boy named Bob
Item 3rd.  I give to my Daughter now Elizabeth Shannon one Negro Girl named 
Ginney which Negro I give to the said Elizabeth and her body heirs forever
Item 4th  I give to my Grandaughter Letha Barnet who is the daughter of my Son 
William Barnet, Dec’d, one Negro Girl named Aggy and one bed and Furniture
Item 5th.  It is my perfect will and desire that my Negro man Tom known by the 
name of Yellow Tom shall be a free man at my Death
Item 6th   It is my wish and desire for my Negro woman Sucky to lived with one 
of my children as long as she may live to bee with the one She may make choice 
of living with or to live with them all at times if it Sould bee her choice
Item 7th  To the heirs of my daughter Lucy who diseased this life Lucy Sanders 
I give in addition to what I have heretofore given now give one Dollar
Item 8th  To the heirs of my daughter Mary who deces’d this life Mary Headen I 
give in addition to what I have heretofore given now give one Dollar
Item 9th  to my two grandsons Adams Sanders and Thomas Fields, the sons of my 
son William Barnet I give in addition to what I have heretofore given, now 
give one Dollar each
Item 10th   it is my wish and Desire for all the balance of my Estate after 
paying all my just Debts shall bee Equally divided between my three children, 
John Barnet, James C. Barnet, and Elizabeth Shannon to bee divided in any way 
they may think proper between themselves.
Item 11th   I appoint my two Sons John & James C. Barnet my Executors.  This 
given under my hand and Seal the day and date aforesaid in the presents of the 
Subscribing Witnesses.

Logan County August Term 1819   At Russellville on 16 Aug 1819, the last will 
and testament of Thomas Barnet dec’d was this day proven in open court by the 
oaths of Thomas Bowles & Wm. Barnet [witnesses thereto] and ordered to be 
recorded.  Which is done accordingly.   Spencer Curd
