Joseph died intestate - there was no will. Joseph Haden married Eleanor Thomas 13 Jan 1813 in Logan Co. Eleanor was also called Ellen and Nelly. She was from Maryland, the daughter of John Thomas and Eleanor Breathed. Eleanor Breathed was a sister to William Breathitt of Logan Co; William being the father of Gov. John Breathitt. The Kentucky branch of the family used the spelling Breathitt, while those in Maryland maintained the earlier spelling of Breathed. Ellen Thomas Haden was referred to in a family record as a "Breathitt", somewhat obscuring her identity. Joseph and Ellen Thomas Haden made several journeys between Logan Co KY and Washington Co, MD. Joseph actually died in Maryland, but his property was in Logan Co. Ellen and their two sons, George W. and Ranney B., made their home first in Logan Co, then in Muhlenburg Co KY.
