Online databases have sometimes combined these two men as one person. Nathan Johnston, Sr. was married to a lady name Sheba, perhaps Bathsheba. Nathan Johnston Jr. married Caty Newman, in May of 1798, in Logan Co KY. Nathan Jr. left minor children; his father did not. Both Nathan Sr and Jr appear in the tax records of Logan Co from 1797 until 1810, after which time, Sheba Johnston, widow, and a Nathan Johnston are both listed. In the Logan Co records, the spellings Johnston and Johnson are used almost interchangeably. Nathan's family most often appears as Johnston.
