William Johnson Stone, 81, commissioner of Confederate Pensions, commander of the KY Division, United Confederate Veterans, and former congressman, died Monday at his home in Frankfort. Born in that portion of Caldwell County, now a part of Lyon County, June 26, 1841, Capt. Stone was of Scottish descent, his ancestors having been colonial settlers of Virginia. His father, Leasil Stone, was a native of Spartanburg District, South Carolina and came to what was then Caldwell County, Kentucky, where he married and lived all of his life.
