Witnesseth that the said Cothran and wife for and in consideration of the sum of ninety dollars in hand paid to them the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath and doth by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Thurman and his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county aforesaid on the waters of Silver Creek supposed to be about fifteen acres be the same more or less and being part of the same and whereon Charles Cothran deceased formerly lived and which was deeded to him by James Hagin by deed bearing date 9th day of September 1820 and now of record in the Madison County Court Clerks office and which descended to the heirs of said Charles the land intended to be conveyed by this deed was conveyed to the said Silas Cothran by the heirs and widow of said Charles Cothran deceased by deeds now of record in the Clerks office aforesaid and is bounded as follows towit. Being all the land owned by the said Charles at his death on the right hand of the road leading from Richmond to Lancaster in going from Richmond and bounded on the east by said road on the south by William Gass on the north by Richard Gentry and on the west by William Gary and William Gass. Together with all the appurtenances and premises thereto attached to have and to hold said land with its appurtenances and premises to the said Thurman and his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Silas Cothran and Mary his wife for themselves and their heirs doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the said John Thurman and his heirs and assigns that they have good right and lawful authority to sell and convey of said land free and quit of the claim of all and every person . And that they will forever warrant and defend the title to said land unto the said Thurman and his heirs forever against the claim or claims of themselves and their heirs and all and every other person or persons whatever. It is understood that the said Thurman is to have the land contained in the above boundary at the price above mentioned be there little or much land contained therein. In testimony whereof the said Silas Cothran and Mary his wife hath hereto set their hands and seals this day and year first above written. his Silas X Cothran (seal) mark her Mary X Cochran (seal) Mark I hereby release to John Thurman all the right and title I acquired to the foregoing land under a mortgage now of record in the Madison County Court Clerks office from Silas Cothran to me.
