Witnesseth that the said Noah G. Lee and Sally his wife for and in consideration of the sum of fourteen hundred dollars in gold or silver to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Edward Ballard and his heirs forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying in the aforesaid county of Madison on the Walnut Meadow fork of Paint Lick creek and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a box Elder ash and black walnut thence East at 126 poles ____ Bernard Franklin elm and hickory corner in all 227 ½ poles to a white oak tree thence South 210 poles to a white oak, thence N53 W 45 ½ poles to the spring thence down the spring branch West 17 poles N31W 49 ½ poles N58W 29 poles to a stake in the old line, thence with ____ land South [?] 94 ½ poles to two black oaks thence West 86 poles to a sugar tree thence N5E 15 poles to a ____ corned to Edward Stephenson's thence with Stephenson's line N 85 W 53 poles to a hickory and white oak and two buckeyes on the Creek thence down the creek as it meanders on William Titus [?] line to the Beginning, Containing two hundred and twenty one acres including the place where the said Lee now lives, also the ____ said Lee purchased of the said Barnard Franklin with the appurtenances and premises above mentioned and Every part thereof. To have and to Hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances and premises above mentioned and Every part thereof unto the said Edward Ballard and his heirs forever, and them the said Noah Lee and Sally his wife for themselves their heirs Executors and administrators the lands hereby conveyed against themselves their heirs, Executors and administrators and against all and every other person and persons whatever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
