Reeves, Peter Reeves of the County and State aforesaid, Jesse B. Geer for himself and as attorney in fact for Samuel Southerland and Elizabeth his wife, Philip Alston and Sally his wife, Willis Roberts and Patsy his wife, Lucy Shering, Frederick Geer Jr and Lucy H. Couch, heirs and Representatives of Sarah Geer deceased who was one of the heirs of William Reeves deceased, all of the County of Wake and Orange and State of North Carolina and also the said Jesse B. Geer as attorney in fact for John Reeves, Bartlett Allen, and Mary his wife of the County of Wake and State of North Carolina, William Reeves and George Reeves of the County of Madison and State of Kentucky of the first part, and Jeremiah Reeves of the County of Rockcastle and State of Kentucky of the second part being all heirs and legal Representatives of William Reeves Decd. Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred and fifty dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said party of the second part all their right title, and interest of in and to a certain tract of land, lying and being in the County of Madison and State of Kentucky on the waters of Otter Creek and Muddy Creek being part of Robert Clark’s survey of 5639 acres and being the same land conveyed by Higgason Grubbs to their Ancester William Reeves Decd by Deed bearing date the 2nd day of March 1816 and now of Record in the Madison County Court Clerks office and which land is bounded as follows towit Beginning at the two white oaks corner to Charles Baker thence N 28 poles to a black walnut and Spanish oak corner to West, thence East 8 poles to a hickory and buckeye thence N 36 poles to a white oak, and red oak in Reeves line, with him East 55 poles to his corner a small hickory thence N 30 poles to a white oak corner to James Oldham, thence East 130 poles to a stake South 94 poles to a Stake in Charles Bakers line, thence with the same West 193 poles to the Beginning, with the appurtenances, to have and to hold the said bargained and sold premises and appurtenances to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Jeremiah Reeves his heirs and assigns forever and them the said party of the first part doth covenant with the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns that they the owners in part by descent from their said Ancester William Reeves decd have good right and legal authority to sell and convey their undivided proportionate parts in manner and form above written, and that they will warrant and forever defend the same that is their undivided proportionable parts to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever from the claim of themselves their heirs and from the claims of every and all persons whatever. I David Irvine Clerk of the Court for the County aforesaid so hereby certify that this Deed was produced to me in my office on the 24th day of October 1822 and acknowledged by William H Reeves, as Attorney in fact for Charles Reeves to be his act and deed – It was also acknowledged by Peter Reeves to be his act and deed – It was also acknowledged by Jesse B Geer for himself and as Attorney in fact for Samuel Southerland and Elizabeth his wife, Philip Alston and Sally his wife, Willis Roberts and Patsey his wife, Lucy Shering, Frederick Geer Jr., Lucy H Couch, John Reeves, Bartlett Allen, and Mary his wife to be his act and deed. It was also acknowledged by William Reeves and George Reeves to be their act and deed – and by virtue of said several acknowledgements the same has been duly Recorded in my office.
