K, USA Submitted by: Angie Preston DECLARATION FOR INVALID PENSION ACT OF JUNE 27, 1890 State of Kentucky, County of Madison, ss: On the 20 day of October, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and ninety one personally appeared before me, a Notary Public within and for the county and State aforesaid William Lowery aged 49 years, a resident of the county of Madison, county of Madison, State of Kentucky, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical William Lowery who was enrolled on the 12th day of September ,1861, in company "K" First Regiment Kentucky Cavalry Volunteers in the service of the United States in the War of the Rebellion, and served at least ninety days, and was honorably discharched by order of the Secretary of war to date on the 31st day of December, 1863. That he is now unable to earn a support by manual labor by reason of Rheumatisms in the right shoulder and right leg and this applicant has not been in any other service since the 31st day of December 1863 being all the service this applicant rendered in the service of the United States. That said disabilities are not due to his vicious habits, and are to the best of his knowledge and belief of a permanent character; that he has not applied for pension prior to this application. That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension-roll of the United States under the provisoins of the Act of June 17, 1890. He hereby appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation, N.D. State of Kentucky County of Jessamine On this 5 day of June, A.D. one thousand nine hundred and twelve, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public within and for the county and State aforesaid, William Lowery, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 72 years of age, and a resident of Madison County, Ky county of Madison, State of Kentucky; and that he is the identical person who was ENROLLED at Camp Dick Robinson under the name of William Lowery, on the 12 day of September, 1861, as a private, in 1st Ky. Cavalry Co. K US Volt. in the service of the United States, in the Civil war, and was HONORABLE DISCHARGED at Camp Nelson, Ky, on the 1st day of December, 1864. That he also served He was captured at Loudon, Laurel Co. Ky, and placed in prison at Frankfort, Ky where he remained until the war was over. He was released from prison in January 1865, by Capt Phil Roberts, and did not receive a dischage paper at that time. Later on he was notified of his discharge paper being in Washington, D.C. where it is now. That he was not employed in the military or naval service of the United States otherwise than as stated above. That his peronal description at enlistment was as follows: Height, 6 feet 2 inches; complexion, light; color of eyes, blue; color of hair, light; that his occupation was farmer; that he was born May 28, 1840 in Madison County, Kentucky That his several places of residence since leaving the service have been as follows: Madison County, Kentucky. That he is a pensioner under certidicate No.___ That he has___applied for pension under original No. 1,066,332 (Dated April 22, 1911) That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under the provisions of the act of May 11, 1912.
