1812, in Captain William M. Morrison's Company of KY militia. He entered
the service 1 Sep 1812, discharged 25 Mar 1813, Corporal, W.O. claim 8695,
Bounty land claims #9436-80-50 and 1351-80-50. Jenny's (Joels' wife, Jenny
BARNETT) claim for pension was W.C. 4138, she was born about 1794 in VA
per the 1850 census, died 23 Jan 1877 at Big Hill, Madison Co, KY. Joel living in
Madison Co, KY in 1850, and Rockcastle, KY in 1855.''KY Soldiers in
the War of 1812', by Wilder, Joel Benge enlisted as private 1 Sep 1812 in Capt
William M. Morrison's Co, 2nd Reg, KY militia.
