(New Hampshire) Patriot & State Gazetteer, March 5, 1827
In Richmond county, Kentucky, Jan. 30, Mr. Jonathan Brooks—murdered by one of his 
negroes. The wretch killed his master with a handspike—heaped logs and brush upon 
his body, and set fire to them, consuming his body with the exception of a few 
bones.
