Howard was born at home in Rockcastle County, to the late Howard Richard and Dora Frances (Dees) Harding, but was raised by his Aunt Eller and Uncle John Harding. He worked as a union carpenter but he also farmed and operated a sawmill. Howard served in the Army during WWII. He was member of the Baptist faith. (family names omitted for privacy reasons) In addition to his parents and aunt and uncle, he was also preceded in death by: one child, Howard Franklin Harding; four brothers: John F., Manuel, Paul and Silas Harding; three sisters, Ethel Johnson, Ruth Wolke and Nora Johnson; and one grandchild, Steven Douglas Harding. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Clear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Henson and the Rev. Kenny Queener officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at the Harding Family Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be his children. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
