Biography, CONLEY, CHALLIS PEYTON Magoffin County, Ky 2004 Submitted by: Joe Conley Joe_Conley@HMIS.ORG *********************************************************************** CHALLIS PEYTON CONLEY Challis was the last of 4 children born to Jesse Franklin and Chrystal (Lemaster) Conley of Falcon. He also, like his brothers, joined the U S Army. It turns out he was not quite 17 when doing so. He entered the service with the intention of becoming a career man in the military. After 6 years he received an honorary discharge due to a hearing loss. he was devistated and remained on disability until his death in August of 1978 at the young age of 45. He was elevated to the rank of Sargent and served in Korea. Challis was married and divorced twice. He had a son, Ricky Allen (Conley) Beason and an daughter. The daughter was adopted by a cousin and his wife. He made his home with his parents until his death. He survived his mother by only 4 1/2 months.
