Biography, CONLEY, RAY WINFRED Magoffin County, Ky 2004 Submitted by: Joe Conley Joe_Conley@HMIS.ORG *********************************************************************** RAY WINFRED CONLEY Ray was the 2nd born child of Jesse Franklin and Chrystal (Lemaster) Conley of Falcon. He, like his older brother Roy, joined the U S Army. He served in Korea but never as able to locate his brother Challis, who also was serving there at the same time. every time he got a tip . . . he just missed him. Ray ended up in Lorain, Ohio as was his brother Roy. He worked for National Tube, later U.S. Steel and retired from there. His position was a "rigger" within the steel mill. He met and married Mary Lou Ardo of Lorain. They made their home in Lorain, Ohio where they raised their 7 children: Lois, Leslie Ray, Mark Jesse, Kimblery Rae, Lynn Diane, Pamela Sue and Dennis Allen Ray excelled in furniture refinishing and was known throughout Lorain County for his work. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and travelled in his motorhome to Daytona Beach every February for many years. He passed away in June 1998 after a 10 month battle with cancer.
