Military Rites Held for Allen

   Military Rites were held on September 11, 2004
at the Salyersville Funeral Home for Comrade
Woodrow Allen by DAV Chapter 15 and 18.
   Comrade Allen entered the U.S. Navy in 1938 and
was discharged July 18, 1969 with twenty-three years,
six months, and fourteen days of active service.
Comrade Allen held the rank of SHI E-6
   Comrade Allen's medals included American Defense (1)
Star, American Area Assisted Pacific (11) Stars,
Victory Medal, European African (1)Star, Phillipine
Liberation (2) Stars. Comrade Allen was a survivor
of Pearl Harbor.
   Members of DAV Chapter 15 and 18 who participated
were RC Arnett, James Montgomery, Chester Blanton,
Melvin Blanton, Michael Blanton, Roy Todd Preston,
Chester Howard, Billy G. Lewis, Norman Miller, John
Matthew, and Bill Leidy.
