June 14, 1930--October 7, 2006 

Alton McCarty, age 76 of Salyersville, passed away Saturday, 
October 7, 2006 at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, Ky. He was born 
June 14, 1930 in Magoffin County, Ky. He was a retired deputy sheriff and 
a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife: Ruie Amyx McCarty; three sons: Winford Ray McCarty, 
Donald Gene McCarty, and Billy Joe McCarty, all of Salyersville, Ky; two daughters: 
Cleta Faye Collett and Jenifer Minix, both of Salyersville, Ky; three brothers: Elmer 
McCarty, Loren McCarty, and Bobby McCarty, all of Salyersville, Ky; and three sisters: 
Clary Keeton, Mary Patrick, and Phyllis Arnett, all of Salyersville, Ky. He is also survived 
by 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents: Loy McCarty and Ada Lee Stephens McCarty; 
and one brother: Ray McCarty. 

Visitation will be Sunday, October 8, 2006 at the Magoffin County Funeral Home at 6:00 PM 
for the family and 7:00 PM for the public, all day Monday, October 9, and Tuesday, 
October 10, until time of services.

Services will be Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the Magoffin County Funeral 
Home Chapel, officiated by Eskinovah Jackson and Carl Howard. Burial will follow at the 
Gullett Cemetery, Middle Fork, Magoffin County, Ky.
