Cooper Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m., at Friendship Methodist Church for Mortie E. Cooper, 41, who was killed Saturday in an explosion at a nitro-glycerine mixing plant near Masonville, Ky., six miles south of Owensboro. The plant was operated by the Pringle Powder Co. of Bradford, Pa., of which Mr. Cooper, of Fairfield, Ill., was district manager. Mr. Cooper was born December 9, 1902, in Magoffin County, Ky. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Julia S. Stafford Cooper, and two children, Anna Lee Cooper and Mortie Julian Cooper, of Fairfield, Ill. Also surviving are his father, James Thomas Cooper of Staffordsville, Ky.; a sister, Mrs. George (Ival) Collins of Owensboro, and two brothers, F.M. Cooper of Stirrat, W. Va., and Glenn Cooper, of Chauncey, W. Va. His mother, Phoebe Howington Cooper, preceded him in death. Revs. O.D. Pullen and E. B. White will conduct the last rites. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. Mr. Cooper was a native of Magoffin county and was widely known throughout this section.
