Born Dec. 20, 1942, in Magoffin County, he was a son of the late Lonzie and Pearlie Tackett Howard. He was a carpenter and a member of State Road United Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Rexford Howard. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Phyllis Castle Howard of Salyersville; a son, Hershel Keith Howard of Salyersville; seven daughters, Frieda Howard and Meghan Howard, both of Salyersville, Margtgo Werner of Shelbiana, Margie McCoy, Rebecca Coleman and Crystal Howard, all of Pikeville, and Maggie Belcher of Regina; two brothers, Carl Howard, and Hershel Howard, both of Salyersville; six sisters, Versie Hunley and Addie Hale, both of Salyersville, Rosie Williams and Verla Adams, both of Ohio, and Mag McDowell and Vetta Caudill, both of Lexington; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 29, at Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel, Salyersville, with Revs. L.D. Rice, Buster Blanton, and John Blanton officiating.
