Ruby M. Laney, 69, of Gapville, died Friday, July 4,2003 at 
Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center, Paintsville.

Born June 20, 1934, in Royalton, she was a daughter of 
the late Fred and Arritta Wadkins Gilpin. She was an artist 
and a member of the United Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Laney.

Survivors include two sons, Edward “Sunshine” Gilpin 
of Royalton and Arley Gilpin of Michigan; two daughters, 
Arnita Joseph and Hazel Bailey, both of Gapville; and 
eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, July 7, at Salt Lick United 
Baptist Church with Revs. Boone Allen and Irvin Allen Jr., 
officiating. Burial was in Gilpin and Laney Cemetery, Long 
Branch Road, Royalton, under direction of Salyersville 
Funeral Home, Salyersville.
