Arvel Russell

Age: 86

Arvel Russell, 86, of Salyersville, died Thursday, Aug. 7, at 
his residence.

Born Jan. 26, 1917, in Magoffin County, he was a son of the late 
Grover Russell and Maryann Montgomery. He was a farmer and 
a member of Regular Primitive Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred Russell, Arnold 
Russell, Herman Russell and Charlie Russell; three sisters, Hassie 
Montgomery, Southie Montgomery and Falkie Jenkins; and a great 
grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Montgomery Russell; five sons, 
Ronnie Russell, Heman Russell, Donald Ray Russell, Douglas Russell 
and Dean Russell, all of Salyersville; three daughters, Dovie Howard 
and Maggie Jenkins, both of Salyersville, and Rosie Howard of Marion, 
Ohio; two brothers, Alex Russell and Cass Russell, both of Salyersville; 
18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 10, at Coon Creek Primitive 
Baptist Church, Coon Creek, with Revs. Jack Smith, Hershel Wright and 
Hearl Howard officiating. Burial was in Head of Coon Creek Cemetery, 
Coon Creek, under direction of Magoffin County Funeral Home, 
Salyersville
