Born December 20, 1920 in Magoffin County, she was the daughter of the late R.B. and Dolly England Allen. Mrs. Shepherd was a homemaker and a member of the GunCreek United Baptist Church. Mrs. Shepherd was preceded in death by her husband Homer Shepherd; two sons, Ricky and Paul Shepherd; eight brothers, Grover Allen, Virgil Allen, Oscar Allen, Brady Allen, Kelsie Allen, Beckham Allen, Grats Allen and Will Hale; seven sisters, Ellen Hale, Pokie Wireman, Peggy Conley, Audie Arnett, Mary Allen, Susie Allen and Cassie Allen. Survivors include six sons, Homer Shepherd Jr., of Gunlock, Arbria Shepherd of Stockbridge, Mi., Bill Shepherd of Salyersville, Robert Shepherd of Gunlock, Virgil Shepherd of Salyersville, and Johnny Shepherd of David; five daughters, Darcus Lovely of Gunlock, Janice Faye FitzPatrick of Salyersville, Debbie Thompson of Prestonsburg, Carol Shepherd of Gunlock and Elisha Hylton of Evanston; four sisters, Bessie Wireman of Gunlock, Daisy Salyer of Leatherwood, Texas, Betty Bradley of North Manchester, In and Bertha Allen of Michigan; 35 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Services for Mrs. Shepherd were conducted on Sunday, January 11 at the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel in Salyersville, with Mike Smith and Simon Porter officiating. Burial followed in the Wireman Cemetery at Gunlock.
