SMITH, 59, died at 12:56 p.m. May 26, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born Feb. 4th, 1945, in Salyersville, KY, to Marvin and Versie Fletcher Spradlin, who preceded her in death. On July 22, 1958, she married Ernest Smith, who survives in Lima. Mrs. Smith had worked at Artex Hobby and had been a custodian at Perry school. She had been a foster care provider for Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth, helping raise 173 foster children and grandchildren. She was a member of Lima Deliverance Tabernacle, where she served as treasurer. Survivors also include five daughters, Tammy (James) Sockrider, Rebecca Moye, Judy (Darrin) Neal, Amy Harmon and Lynette (Josh) Mays, all of Lima; two sons, Tracey (Marie) Wells and Joshua Kuras, both of Lima; a brother, Harlow Spradlin of Lima; two sisters, Fannie Emmons of Clearwater, Florida, and and Wanda Sanders of Lima; 17 grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Joy. She was preceded in death by five sisters and a brother. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. James Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and noon until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
