(Childress) Oct. 28, 1921 – Sept. 1, 2003 Jessie E. “Eola” Thacker, 81 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Monday, Sept.1, at Grandview Hospital, in Ohio. Jessie was born on October 28, 1921, the daughter of the late Mitchell Childress. She was married to Algon Thacker, who preceded her in death. “Eloa” retired from the Butler School in Ohio after working 12 years as a cook. She was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Ohio. Survivors include four daughters, Betty Metcalf, Carol Mercer, and Kathy Wilkens, all of Dayton, Ohio; Donna Thacker of Cleveland, Tn; four sons, Gene Stamper And wife Lee of Moraine, Oh; Thomas Stamper of Dayton, Oh; Bobby Stamper of Tipp City, Oh; Danny Stamper of Dayton, Oh; three sisters, Marcella Howard and husband Joe of Salyersville; Margaret Arnett of Pikeville; Rosie Baker of Jackson; two brothers, Dorsey Perkins of Dayton, Oh; Rev. Dean Perkins of Hattiesburg, Ms; 26 Grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. In addition to her mother and husband, She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Lee Thacker; one grandson, Billy Metcalf; one brother, Leroy Perkins; Two sisters, Aileen Turner and Augusta Blanton. Services were conducted on Thursday, September 4, at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, in Ohio, with Pastor Melvin King officiating. Burial followed in the Willow View Cemetery in Ohio.
