She was born November 30, 1937, in Magoffin County, to Smith Burton and Flossie Howard Burton, of Owingsville, who survive her. She was a homemaker and the widow of Jackson Earl Rice. Besides her parents, she is survived by two daughters, Bernice Abney, of Clay City; and Connie Sue Skinner of Mt Sterling; three sons, Claude Rice of Frenchburg; and Danny and Eddie Rice, both of Mt. Sterling; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Nora Montgomery of Owingsville and Phyllis Downs of Salt Lick; and three brothers, Seldon, Forest and Charles Burton, all of Owingsville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2003, at the Herald and Stewart Home for Funerals, in Mt Sterling. Burial followed in the Lovely Cemetery.
