                          Thanksgiving Day
                          Proclamation,
By his excellency, BERIAH MAGOFFIN, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky

                                Commonwealth of Kentucky
                                Executive Department

   In accordance with a time-honored custom, as well as with m own
convictions of propriety, I hereby designate THURSDAAY, the 29th
instant, as a day of public Thanksgiving and Prayer throughout the
Commonwealth of Kentucky, and recommend that the people on that
day abstain fro their regular vocations, close their places of
business, and unite in Thanksgiving to Almight God for the countless
blessings we have received at His hands, and in supplicating a
continuance of His favor.
                            In testimony whereof, I have hereunto
                         set my hand, and caused the seal of the
                       Commonwealth to be affixed.
                         Done at Frankfort, this 5th day of 
                      November, A. D. 1860, and in the 69th year
                      of the Commonwealt.
