SHREVE FAMILY BURIAL PLOT (Transcribed by:Ellie Scott Laurrell@aol.com ) Sept 8 2004 There are numerous other area families who are buried at this site. I have titled the place "Shreve Cemetary" as I do not know the official name of the cemetary. A couple of the family names I noticed and remembered from research were Coppage and Ellis. I would estimate the total number of graves to be around 100 or so that date back to the middle 1800's. Some of the birth's of the folks there date back to the 1700's. Many of the members of the Marion County KY Shreve family are buried in the burial plot located 8 miles southeast of Bradfordsville KY on County Road 49. County Road 49 runs from Lebanon KY to Bradfordsville. The road turns to the right at the flasher light in the center of Bradfordsville. Eight miles from Bradfordsville on the right there is a sign pointing to the "P. Valley Christain Church". This church is down that road. Built in 1900 it is a delightful place to visit. The actual name is "Pleasant Valley Christain Church" Opposite the sign on the left side of the road is a gate. The "nob" to the left of that gate is the home to the cemetary. The place is in extremely sad shape and is difficult to access. At one time there has been a gravel drive leading the base of the "nob". T his is now impassable due to brush and weeds. It is possible to follow that road on foot, however. The family plot is at the far end from the gate which serves as an enterance to the cemetary. The large marker with "Shreve" on it is easily found. The individual markers are a much different matter, however. Most are over grown with weeds. Some have been toppled and some are just GONE! It is my understanding there were some infants buried in the plot who were never even given markers. I have listed four of my ancestors that are buried at this location. According to my research Benjamin and Elizabeth were the first members of the Shreve family to locate in the Lebanon/Bradfordsville area in about 1830. Benjamin Shreve (born - 1807 died - 1863) and his wife Elizabeth Hayes Shreve (born - 1802 died - 1889) Franklin Shreve (son of Benjamin and Elizabeth)(born - 1837 died - 1902) and his wife Lucebia Vaugh Shreve (shown as Lucebra or "Sebia" on the headstone)(born-1834 died-1911)
