Will: DAVIS, John Martin County, Kentucky Will Book 1 page 316 My Lawful Will In the name of god amen I John Davis of Martin County being weak and feable but of good Sound Mind and memory I do this the 14 day of September 1874 I do this day bequeeth and dispose of my Estate to my several children at my dcease or at my disposal first at my death I wish to be buried in deacent christian burial secondly for all my jest debts to be fully paid thirdly I give and bequeeth to my son James Davis a certain lot of my land in martin County and State of Kentucky on the midle fork of Rockastle Creek begining at a rock and beech a dividing line between Sd John Davis Sr and A Cassady on the East Side of Sd Creek then running up the ridge to the top withe the lines of the two parties thence from the rock and beech the begining running down the hill to the creek, thence up the creek with its mianders a bout one hundred and fifty yards a rock as a conditional line btween Sd John Davis Sr. and A Cassady thence a Strait line to the top of Ridge withe the rubin crum line round the head of the Robnet hollow between barn hollow and robnet hollow to Sd Creet to a black Waulnut a bout 10 yds a bove the lime Stone rock thence up the Creek with its mainders to the ford of Sd creek to a beech marked thence up the ridge on the east side of Sd creek to A Cassady line Sd land is valued at three hundred and thirty three dollars for which I give and begiveth to my son James Davis and to be his full Share of my estate to him and his heirs for Ever and no more September 14" day 1874 Secondly begining at the forks of the baker branch running North two hundred yards to a cliff at the top of the Ridge with Step line and John Davis Sr line between the barn hollow and the baker branch thence running down the point a bove the barn hollow branch to a white oak Marked Sd and J.D. thence a Strait line crossing the barn hollow to James Davis line thence running down the ridge with James Davis line to sd Black waulnet thence runing up the creek with its thence running down the creek with its myanders to Sd beech & ford thence up the ridge with James Davis line and A Cassady line thence running Cassady line three hundred yards thence running down the ridge below the School house field to the Creek thence to the Coperes Rock on the west side of the sd Creek thence up the ridge west to the top thence running the ridge including one hundred acres of land on the east side of the left hand forks of the b? branch thence down Sd branch to the forks to the begining it being the full share of John Davis Sr. to land John Jr to his heirs and to have no more their personal ? at three hundred and thirty three dollars to his full share of John Davis Sr Estate to John Davis Jr this 14 day September 1874 thirdly I give and bequeath to my son Shadrick Davis all the land I hold on the barn hollow it being the right hand fork of the baker branch of the middle forks of Rockcastle Creek Martin County Kentucky that's a bove John Davis jr line for which I the Sd John Davis Sr give and begiveth my son Shadrick Davis and Sd land is valued at three hundred and thirty three dollars and no more to Sd Shadrick Davis and his heirs for ever this 14 day of September 1874 fourthly I give and begiveth my son George W. Davis all the land beginning at the coperass rock bellow the crocket field on the West side of rockastle Creek Martin County Kentucky thence running up the ridge West with John Davis Jr line to the head of the crocket hollow thence running around the head of Sd crocket hollow thence running down the point to the creek to a white waulnut a Small distance a bove the point field thence up the Creek with its Myanders to a black oak on the east Side of the creek thence a Strait line to the top of the ridge thence runing down ridge to A cassady line to John Davis Jr line thence running down the ridge with John Davis Jr line to Sd copress Rock the beginning for which the Sd John Davis Sr give and begive to my Son G W Davis as his full Share in my estate he is to have no more neither personal or real to him and his heirs forever for which Sd land is valued at five hundred dollar this 14 day of Sept 1874 fiftly I Sd John Davis Sr I do this day give and begiveth my son Wm Davis all the land that I own a bove the george davis land as long as he lives and no longer for which I certify that the deat of my son William Davis that said lot of land shall belong to Arminda Davis Wm Davis oldest child and to her heirs for ever that is hold all the lands on the South side of the Sd creek between George W Davis land A Jeams land and on the north side all between John Stepps land G Davis land in Martin Co Ky on the ? fork of Rockastle Creek Valued at five hundred dollars this 14 day of September 1874 Sixtly I give and begiveth my Daughter Mary Cassez the Sum of one dollar to be paid out of My estate and no more nor their personal or real this the 14 day of September 1874 Seventhly I give and begiveth my daughter Lydia delong one yearling worth 2 dollars & 50 cts and no more of my estate personal or real this 14 day ofSept 1874 Eightly I give and begiveth my Daughter Sarah Delong one yearling worth two dollars and fifty cts to be paid out of my estate and no more neither personal or real this the 14 day of September 1874 Ninethly & lastly I give and begiveth to my loveing wife Nancy Davis and to my youngest daughter Maryen Davis all my personal property leaving out a black mare I have lately bought namely one yoke of oxens worth one hundred dollars and one gray mare worth $80 and one cow and calf and all the housing furniture & beding and covers cooking vessels plates & knives and forks for which I certify this to be my last will and testimony this the 14 day of September 1874 Secondly I again Say and certify that my seal here bellow shall make good all the diferent lots and allowences to my Several children from the first lot up to the 9 and 10 divisions assest to be my last will and testimony witness my hand and seal this the 14 day of September 1874.
