(Peck) Gilson, was born in 1844, in Danville Vt.and was ten years old when his parents emigrated to Kentucky. He returned however to his native State where he obtained a good English education. He began his business life in 1868, as a member of the firm of W.R. Leigh & Co. of Paducah, Ky. and has been a resident of that city ever since, with the exception of three years, which he spent in the tobacco market, in New York City, having previously engaged in the manufacture of cigars and plug tobacco, in Paducah. Mr. Gilson is a man of good business qualifications and is held in high esteem by a large circle of friends; for some years, he occupied the position of teller in the American German National Bank, of Paducah. Since 1879 he has been operating a paint store located at No. 303 Broadway. He is an honored member of the Masonic fraternity. He was married in St. Louis, Mo., in 1882, to Miss Maggie A. daughter of Rev. F. Lack, of that city, and has one child, Jennie L. Gilson
