Whitworth, born in Tennessee, in 1829, 1833 or 1834, and Catherine M. Humphrey, born in May 1833, in Kentucky, were married "at John Humphreys" in McCracken County February 7, 1850, in the presence of John Humphrey and S. C. (or S. E.) Whitworth, according to photograph copy of the marriage certificate obtained from National Archives, Washington, D. C. Widow Catherine Whitworth produced the marriage certificate when applying for a pension on the basis of the Civil War military service of Frederick F. Whitworth. Ten children were born to this marriage.
