Departed this life April 22, 1966 at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 6 days. He was first married to Polly West and 10 children were born to this union. His wife and 3 children preceded him in death. Later he was married to Artema West and 8 children were born to this union. He is survived by his wife, Artema Acres of Oneida; 4 sons, Millard of Oneida, Elvin of Indiana, Jennings with the U.S. Navy, and Kenneth with the U.S. Army in Germany; 11 Daughters, Mrs. Sherman Laxton, Mrs. Alvin Laxton, Mrs. Thomas Stanley, Mrs. Chester Sexton and Mrs. Ralph Stanfill, all of Oneida, Mrs. Mossie Reed of Cincinnait, Mrs. Izillah Sexton, Mrs. Edith Prosett, and Mrs. Brenda Acres all of Muncie, Indiana, Mrs. Harold Schuler of Vancouver, Washington and Mrs. Shirley Richmond of Michigan; 1 brother, Melvin Acres of Oneida. He also leaves 40 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He professed faith in Christ August 23, 1953 and united with the Paint Rock Baptist Church where he remained a member until the time of his death. He was a devoted husband and father and was loved by all who knew him. "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord."
