His Civil War discharge papers give his age at 97, but his family say that he put his age up a year in order to get into the Civil War so that actually he was only 96 at the time of his death. Mr. Clark's health was splendid and he was able to get around as well as the younger generation until about four months ago when his condition made him bed ridden. He is survived by eight daughters, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, the majority of whom live in this and Wayne county. Burial was at the Freedom cemetery in Wayne county on Saturday afternoon. Due to the inclement weather funeral services will be held at a later date. The Record hopes to carry more of the life of this interesting character at an early date.
