Elmer: In 1893, July 24 a baby boy was born to the late Jess and Poppy (Jones) Duncan to become a servant of the Lord. He joined the Smithtown Baptist Church August 1930, then he lettered to the Lower Hickory Grove Baptist Church where he was ordained as a minister of the Gospel January 1932, to which he was ever faithful. Bro. Elmer was always willing to do what he could in the service of the Lord and to try to get sinners saved. He was willing and ready to help console those in bereavement. On March 17, 1945 he lettered to the New Light Baptist Church, where he was a member until death which was Thursday, July 24, 1952. He was 59 years old the day he died. November 24, 1913 he was married to Emma Childress. To this union were born 3 girls and 3 boys. He leaves behind his wife Emma, 2 sons, Delbert and Elbert of Winfield, Tenn., 3 daughters, Gladys Angel and Goldie Perkins of Pine Knot, Ky., Glenna Strunk of Winfield, 15 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 6 brothers and a step mother and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. We know Elmer is one of those who is at rest and that his work shall follow after him. We feel that his soul is resting in the paradise of God to await the coming of the Lord to reunite it with a new and glorified body which will have no more pain nor know no more sorrow. One son Ernest preceded him in death last August 27. I believe with Elmer it was good-bye to his family here and good morning to Ernest. Our pray is that each of his loved ones will meet him over there when they take their journey on.
