The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ************************************************************* FROM THE WEST UNION ASSOCIATION OF UNITED BAPTISTS MINUTES Ellis, John Freeman was born October 20, 1880, deceased this life February 12, 1966 at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 23 days. He went in service July 25, 1899 and fought for the freedom of his country in the Spanish-American War. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 695, F. & A.M. He professed a hope in Christ and joined the New Salem Church, February 18, 1905, later moved his membership to Mount Zion Church, then came as a charter member to organize the Pentecost Baptist Church September 7, 1929 where he remained a member until the end. He united in marriage to Delilah Cross Ellis July 14, 1901 and to this union was born three sons of which two preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Delilah Ellis; 1 son, Melbert Ellis of Oneida, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. We feel our loss is his eternal gain in glory.
