Tuesday, May 8, 1979, McCreary County Record:
Dovie Gregory, 63, of Slavens, died May 4 at Wayne County Hospital, 
Monticello, after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 
p.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Gregory officiating. Burial 
was in Bud Gregory Cemetery./  She was Born Feb. 19, 1916, at Slavens to the 
late Bill Vaughn and Rhoda Gregory. She was a member of the Concord Baptist 
Church./  Survivors include her husband, Schyler Gregory, Slavens; nine 
children, Cash, Minnie, James, Carl, Bill and Wilma Gregory, Ella Mae Gregory, 
Barbara Whitehead, all of Slavens, and Jack Gregory, Frankfort, Ind.; 24 
grandchildren; one brother, Elisha Vaughn, Illinois; one sister, Rachel Jones, 
Slavens,/  Hickman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
