Gene W. Hughes, 57, of Bradenton, died Oct. 23, 1999, in Blake Medical
Center.

There will be no service. National Cremation Society, Sarasota chapter, is
In charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to All
Children's Hospital, 801 Sixth St. S., St. Petersburg, Fla. 33701.

Born in Stearns, Ky., Mr. Hughes came to Manatee County from Union, Ky., in
1991. He retired from Cincinnati Bell in 1991. He worked with baseball teams
and handicapped children in Erlanger, Ky. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; three daughters, Angela Marshall and
Ingred, both of Erlanger, and Jenny, of Bradenton; two sons, Gene Jr., of
Fort Mitchell, Ky., and Jon, of Mason, Ohio; a sister, Betty Vining of
Burlington, Ky.; a brother, Bob, of St. Petersburg; and eight grandchildren.
