She died December 13, 1951 at the age of 83 years and eight months. She professed a hope in Christ at the age of 16 and joined the Fellowship Baptist Church at Armathwaite and lived a true Christian life. She was married to John Robert Hurst, and to this union were born seven children, two of whom have passed on before. Surviving are Mrs. Zona Coffee of Kentucky, Mrs. Fannie Crabtree of Jamestown, Clem Hurst of Poplar Cove, Oliver Hurst and Mrs. Oma Jane Brannon of Jamestown. She is also survived by her husband, John R. Hurst, 35 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren; four half brothers, Grant Norman, L. J. Norman, Babe Norman and A. J. Norman; also one half sisters, Mrs. Nettie Delk of Kentucky, and a host of friends and loved ones. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church in Jamestown Friday, December 14, at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Virgil Voiles and Rev. W. F. Wright officiating. Burial was in the Taylor Cemetery on Saturday. Our grandmother always wished that there would be a pretty white blanket of snow when she was laid away beneath the ground. God granted that wish. St. John 15-7 says this: "If we abide in me and may words abide is you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you." And I John 3-22 reads: "And whatsoever we ask we receive of him because we keep his commandments and do those things that are pleasing in his sight." God bless our sweet old grandmother in heaven.
