Tuesday, July 20, 1976, McCreary County Record:
Fred A. Jones, 48, husband of Effie Watters of Stearns died July 13 at home./  
A native of Wayne County he was born September 24, 1927 to the late Harrison 
and Lou Whitehead Jones. He was a lifelong resident of McCreary County and a 
retired coal miner. Survivors besides his wife include seven children. Viola 
Maxwell, Norwood, Ohio, Christine Jones, Batana, Ohio, Lawrence Jones, Sidney, 
Ohio, Clyde, Stanley, Ardell and Carl Jones of Stearns. Four sisters, Zella 
Moore, Hamilton, Ohio, Irene Tucker, Columbus, Ohio, Viola Isaacs and Ruth 
Jones of Cincinnati and one brother Thomas Jones, Cincinnati; one daughter 
Imogene Jones preceded him in death./  Funeral services were held July 15 at 
the Wolfe Ridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Chester Stephens and Herbert "Bud" 
Perry. Burial was in the Sammy New Cemetery./ Funeral arrangements were 
handled by the Hickman Funeral Home.
