Tuesday, March 18, 1980, McCreary County Record:
Ralph Jones, 81, Whitley City, died March 9 at Lake Cumberland Medical Center, 
Somerset, after months of illness. Funeral services were conducted March 12 at 
1 p.m. at Whitley City Second Baptist Church with Rev. Harvey Corder and Rev. 
Earl Davis officiating. Burial was in Pine Knot Cemetery./  He was born May 
18, 1898, in McCreary County to the late Rufus and Leona Whitehead Jones. He 
had lived here for years, was a coal miner and member of Day Ridge United 
Baptist Church./  He is survived by his wife, Rhoda Maxwell Jones, Whitley 
City; his children, Nora Parks, Hillsboro, Ohio; Randi Corder, Smithtown; 
Orville Jones, Sidney, Ohio; Adell Whitehead, Earl Jones and George Jones, all 
of Whitley City; 28 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Henry 
Jones, Whitley City and George Jones; Vermont; 2 sisters, Susie Carroll, 
Whitley City and Zadie Black, Marshes Siding./  Hickman Funeral Home was in 
charge of arrangements.
