OBITS: JONES, Icie Alsip - 2 Mar 00 - Relatives in McCreary Co., KY Date: Sat, 11 Mar 2000 00:42:41 -0500 Submitted by: "Bobbie Lewallen" From the News Journal, Corbin KY 3/9/00 Icie Alsip Jones Icie Alsip Jones, 91, Red Bird Road, Williamsburg, passed away Thursday evening, March 2, 2000 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church since 1922. She is survived by seven daughters, Opal Reynolds of Creighton, Missouri, Delphine Mailo and husband, Charles of Williamsburg, Edna Heinrich and husband, Glen of Walworth, New York, Georgia Rude and husband, Larry of Williamsburg, Nancy Morris and husband, Don of Walworth, New York, Wanda Sue Lawson of Dayton, Ohio, and Darlene Watson of Sullivan, Missouri; six sons, Daryl Jones and wife, Elsie of Williamsburg, James Jones and wife, Betty of Hilton, New York, William Jones and wife, Jan of Oolitic, Indiana, Leroy Jones and wife, Miriam of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ray Jones and wife, Martha of Hamlin, New York, and Ralph Jones and wife, Helen of Williamsburg; 48 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Cooper of Williamsburg, Zelphia Davis of Williamsburg, and Lavenia Jones of Pine Knot; two brothers, Ancil Alsip of Pine Knot and James Alsip of Pine Knot; as well as a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Emerson Jones; a son, Adam Troy Jones; and a daughter, Mary Jones. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 5 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Carpenter and Rev. Burley McFarland officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery, 11328 Red Bird Road, Williamsburg, KY 40769.
