FROM THE WEST UNION ASSOCIATION OF UNITED BAPTISTS MINUTES
Laxton, Leon-Born March 13, 1923, deceased this life August 24, 1960.  He
leaves to mourn his passing a wife, Betty Carol Stanley Laxton; one son,
Scott Ray; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Jean Hood and Mrs. Ruth Kennedy of
Illinois, Miss Beverly Ann Laxton of Oneida; 3 brothers, Lothery of Texas,
Milford and Otis of Oneida; 6 sisters, Mrs. Vergie Vallier and Mrs. Tinah
Ruthenberg of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Dean Carson of Sunbright, Tenn., Mrs.
Inez Troxel, Seymour, Indiana, Mrs. Veda Duncan and Miss Barbara Laxton of
Oneida and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.  He
joined the Pine Hill Baptist Church, August 8, 1942 and lived a faithful
Christian life until his death.  We cannot say that he is dead, he is just
away.  With a cherry[cheery] smile and wave of the hand.  He has wandered
into an unknown land.  And left us dreaming how very fair it needs must be
since he is there.  Think of him still the same I say, he is not dead, he is
just away.
